Privacy Policy

Tactus has no analytics, no advertising, and no server of its own. On iOS, everything lives on your device and, if you choose, in your iCloud. On Android, you can optionally sign in with Google to back up to your own Drive. Nothing is ever required.

What Tactus stores, and where.

Everything you create, passages, bar structures, meters, accent maps, tempo shapes, is stored as files on your device. On iOS, if you have iCloud Drive enabled, those files sync to your personal iCloud account so they appear on all your devices. On Android, you can optionally sign in with Google to back up the same files to a folder Tactus creates in your own Google Drive.

Apple operates iCloud and Google operates Drive; each is subject to its own privacy policy (Apple's, Google's). Tactus itself has no visibility into your iCloud or Drive files: sync happens directly between your device and Apple or Google, never through a server Tactus operates. On Android, Tactus only ever requests access to the files and folders it creates itself (Google's drive.file scope), never your whole Drive.

Location
Your device's local storage, always. Optionally, iCloud.com.alanmolina.tactus (iOS) or a Tactus-created folder in your own Google Drive (Android).
Format
JSON files with a .rhythmmap extension.
Who can see them
Only you, through your own Apple ID and iCloud account (iOS), or your own Google account (Android).
Google Sign-In (Android)
Optional. Used only to authorize Drive backup. Your email address is stored locally on your device to show you're signed in. It is never sent to any server Tactus operates.
Developer access
Alan Molina and third parties have no access to your files.

Exported files

When you share a passage from the share sheet, a .rhythmmap file is created in your device's temporary storage and passed to whichever app or service you choose, AirDrop, Mail, Messages, Files. Tactus does not transmit this file anywhere on its own. You choose where it goes.

Deleting your account and data.

Tactus has no account or server of its own, so there's nothing on our end to delete. Everything lives on your device and, if you signed in, your own Google Drive. To fully remove your data:

How to delete everything
  • Sign out of Google: in Tactus, go to Settings and tap Sign Out. This immediately removes your signed-in email and any cached access from your device.
  • Delete your backed-up files: open Google Drive, find the "Tactus" folder, and delete it. These are your files in your own Drive; Tactus never keeps a copy anywhere else.
  • Revoke Tactus's access entirely: visit myaccount.google.com/permissions and remove Tactus from the list of connected apps.
  • Delete local passages: swipe to delete any passage in the app's Library to remove it from your device.

Once you've done this, no Tactus-related data remains anywhere. There's no developer-held copy to request deletion of, because none has ever existed.

Nine things that aren't here.

The fastest way to describe what an app does with your data is to list what it never asks for. Here is the complete list for Tactus.

Account

No Tactus account, ever. On Android, an optional Google Sign-In lets you back up to your own Drive. Skip it and the app behaves exactly like iOS.

001 Identity
Analytics

No usage tracking of any kind. No first-party or third-party analytics SDKs.

002 Telemetry
Crash reporting

No crash reports sent to any server we operate. iOS may offer to send crash data to Apple separately.

003 Diagnostics
Advertising

No ad SDKs, no targeting, no banners. Tactus is paid for once and never sees you again.

004 Monetization
Microphone

Tap Tempo uses touch timing only. No audio is recorded at any point.

005 Hardware
Camera

No camera access is requested or used.

006 Hardware
Location

No location data, coarse or precise, is requested or used.

007 Sensors
Contacts

Sharing a passage uses the system share sheet. Your address book never touches the app.

008 System
Purchase history

App Store purchases are handled entirely by Apple. Tactus stores no payment information.

009 Commerce

Clicks are synthesized. Nothing is recorded.

Tactus generates click sounds using your device's audio hardware: AVAudioEngine on iOS, the Oboe library on Android. It does not record audio on either platform. It does not access your microphone. All audio is synthesized locally and plays through your speaker or headphones.

Apple and Google handle every cent.

Tactus is a one-time purchase sold through the Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). Payment processing, purchase records, and receipt validation are handled entirely by Apple or Google, whichever store you bought it through. Tactus does not receive or store your payment information.

See Apple's Privacy Policy or Google's Privacy Policy for details on how each store handles transactions.

No data collected, from anyone.

Tactus does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). The only personal data the app ever handles is a Google account email, and only if a user on Android chooses to sign in for backup (a feature aimed at people managing their own cloud storage, not children). Tactus does not knowingly direct this feature at children.

If you have questions, contact us at tactusrhythm@gmail.com.

If something changes, it gets written here.

If the app adds features that change how data is handled, this policy will be updated and the effective date at the top will change. Significant changes will be noted in the App Store release notes.

Effective date

August 17, 2026

The version above governs the current release of Tactus on the App Store and Google Play.

The rhythm is yours. So is the data.

That's the whole story. Now go map a passage.
